Alexander Kopatz

Alexander Kopatz is a biologist and researcher studying brown bears in Scandinavia and Russia.

As a biologist, his professional expertise includes detection, monitoring and population genetics of brown bears.  His team uses non-invasive genetic sampling techniques combined with population genetic and genomic methods to identify individual brown bears.  From their tracking they can estimate population numbers, monitor populations and investigate the connectivity between areas in Norway, Russia, Finland and Sweden.

Kopatz’s travels have inspired him to to resurrect his hobby of photography and document the territories he visits.  His collage is a stunning collection worth visiting.
