Lib Tech – Waterboards

Mervin Manufacturing co-founders Mike Olson and Pete Saari are releasing their new surfboard line under the Lib-Tech “Waterboarding” brand. The two, who met as teenagers while surfing in the Pacific Northwest, are legends in the snowboard industry for their Lib-Tech and Gnu snowboards and Bent Metal bindings lines, as well as innovations such as “Banana Rocker” and serrated edge “Magne-Traction.”

Mervin actually shaped surfboards prior to building snowboards, it’s only been a side project until now.  30 years of experience crafting and riding high performance environmentally friendly composite surf, skate and snowboards went into designing the unique Waterboard process, materials, and shapes. Each fused homogenous surf structure is handcrafted in the USA with a focus on performance and environmentally friendly manufacturing and materials.  According to Mervin, compared to other surfboards, “only the stainless steel fin screws remain the same.”

Stay tuned, they are slated to release the lineup for sale in May.
