We Were Promised Jetpacks are a hugely talented young Scottish band assembled in Edinburgh as high school friends in 2003.  Their first ever gig saw them winning their school’s battle of the bands competition. Proceeding shows were after school performances around the city of Edinburgh which were well attended and fuelled the band with a hunger and ambition. The band you will encounter is loud, wild, avidly literate; fiercely melodic, yet eagerly restrained. Lyrics and vocal melodies come courtesy of Adam Thompson, everything else arises from the full group; Adam Thompson (Guitar/Vocals), Michael Palmer (Guitar), Sean Smith (Bass) and Darren Lackie (Drums).

This is good quality prog-rock that sounds best in a live setting. In theory, WWPJ sound almost like every other great UK band you’ve ever heard, just rolled into one neat little package. Before even releasing a single stateside, KEXP was one of the first stations to air the band Across the Pond.  They had them playing a John in the Morning at Night show in New York in 2008. Their 2009 debut album ”These Four Walls” has gained critical success in the short time it’s been out there and we’ve enjoyed being fans from afar. This is a band not to miss.
